Grading: Grade 3 – due to distance and some hilly sections
Description: I haven’t been to this hut before – so I am relying on the KHA for most of my information. Gavels Hut is accessed via the Boundary Fire Trail departing from almost directly opposite the Kosciusko National Park sign, on the highway from Adaminaby. It leads around a few bends, then up a hill for about 1.5Km, to a perfect open plain, and the hut. So the walk will be uphill in the morning and a downhill stroll on the return. Conditions may be cool – so pack for all weather… If the weather turns foul – I know a nice little coffee shop nearby…
