Description
Meet in the Cooma North Shops car park for carpooling at 08:00 Saturday 9th May 2026, drive north of Cooma on Shannons Flat Rd to leave vehicle/s at Oak Vale on Billilingra Rd, then drive to Kalev on Shannons Flat Rd. After a short drive to the base of Mt Roberts, we start walking following a fence line due east for 1.2 kms, climbing 266m. Mt Roberts has a conglomeration of communication towers and stunning 360 degree views of the district from its 1496m altitude. We then descend 336m following a fire trail on the ridge down 6.5 kms to then climb 160m to reach the Murrumbucca Pinnacle, again with dramatic views. We then descend a further 300m over 1.5kms down to Oakvale and back to our prepositioned transport.
Total distance: approx. 9.2kms.
Sights: 360 degree views, especially of the snow covered Main Range.
Grade: This will be a moderate to hard walk 70% on tracks but with solid climbs and descents.
