Join The Geehi Bushwalking Club on their first walk for 2022 to South Ramshead and Ramshead to enjoy the views and Wildflowers

ACTIVITY: Circuit walk from Dead Horse Gap including South Ramshead and Ramshead.

LEADER: Graeme Little

GRADE: Although not long, it does have a 400m ascent, and with a combination of walking a rough foot pad, some off track sections and a defined foot track gives this a grade 4 rating.

DISTANCE: About 9kms. Route may be changed due to weather conditions

RISKS: Sunburn, cold/wet weather. Rocky terrain in places.

GEAR: Bring equipment to deal with the possibility of intense sun, snow or flies. Lunch, water and snacks. Gaiters/leg protection may be handy.

DATE: Sunday 16th January 2022

DESCRIPTION: We’ll park at Dead Horse Gap itself (not at the lower Cascade trail car park). From there it’s a stiff 400m climb to South Ramshead. The plan if the weather is good is to continue towards Ramshead, perhaps to its top if we go well. Then head SE to meet the Thredbo-Dead Horse Gap track, following it back to the cars. It should be peak season for enjoying the wildflowers

MAP: Like all great walks, this one requires 3 maps (1:25000) – Perisher Valley, Chimneys Ridge and Tom Groggin
