Cooma Pine Ridge Walk – Saturday 11 May 2019

Cooma Pine Ridge Walk – Saturday 11 May 2019

Jamie Bond led a group of 11 Geehi members on this short walk in the Cooma locality.

The Pine Ridge Reserve is an area of crown land between Church Road and Bligh Street, Cooma, and we spent the morning exploring the bush tracks and rough vehicle tracks in the Reserve.

We were on the lookout for the Grassland Earless Dragon (Tympanogryptis pinguicolla) which has been sighted near the Reserve – but it must have been too cold as we didn’t see any!

The weather was sunny with a blue sky but very cold. Everyone was warmly dressed with windproof jackets and beanies so it was a pleasant ramble through the bush with some excellent views across Church Road.

We had a stop for morning tea where the thermoses came out for a welcoming hot cup of coffee or tea, plus some sustenance.

It was great to see some of the long-time members of the Geehi Club on the walk, together with some newer members and some prospective members.

Thanks, Jamie, for organising a great local walk!
