Murrumbidgee Old Mill

ACTIVITY:    A walk exploring the old Mill at the Murrumbidgee River.

DESCRIPTION:

Our walk will be around the old mill guided by Dry Plains Rd locals has been re-scheduled.

The Walk is along Old Mill Rd to the locked gate . Heading right down the hill until we get to Snake Ck. Walk along Snake Ck to the junction with Murrumbidgee, near the Old Mill.

Explore around this bend of the river, with some interesting history. We will bring along some interesting information about the history.

Walk upstream around the bend in the river to the old Mill water entry site.

Stop for lunch/snack, on the beach at the river bend.

Continue upstream to the shallow rapids , and then head up to the ridge, and along the ridge which will take us back to the main firetrail, and back to Old Mill Rd

There are easy fire trail alternatives if people want them.

GRADE: Grade is easy, but with the option of rock hopping along Snake creek, and some light scrub around the Murrumbidgee bend.

DISTANCE: About 5 Kilometres

RISKS: Cold Weather, Tripping.

WHAT TO BRING:

All weather gear (eg) raincoat, sunscreen and sturdy footwear.

Personal medication requirements, binoculars and camera.

Water, Morning Tea and Lunch.

MEETING POINT: We will meet at Cooma Golf Club carpark, Dry Plains Rd  then drive (or cycle) approx. 3km to the walk start point.

COST:  Nil.

COVID – 19 restrictions.

In regards to our responsibilities in stopping the spread of COVID-19, the following protocols will be in place: 

  • All participants are asked to adhere to social distancing measures;
  • This includes limiting the number of people in each car to three for non-family car pooling 
  • Maximum group size of 20 participants, so it is important to contact walk leader prior to the day of the activity
  • Please do not to attend if you feel unwell or have been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19
  • Please bring your own pen for signing onto our walk register
  • Also bring your own Hand Sanitiser 
  • Geehi Bushwalking Club will be making your name and contact details available to authorities in case we are asked to assist with contact tracing.
