This walk to the remains of the Blue Creek Coppermine involves an 11 km fire trail, then 0.5km off-track traverse across a steep hillside. We shall see the adit (about 1.5m high) but it will have water in it so entry is not possible. After retracing our steps back to the fire trail lunch will be had on the Yarrangobilly River.
Although our return trip to the highway may be along the same way we came, an alternative if river level is low and group enthusiasm is high is to rock hop/wade up the Yarrangobilly River to Yarrangobilly village. A car shuffle will be required for this. This route will definitely mean wet feet, with water level above knee height at times.
This will be a long day, as there is much driving and long walk.
Time 7:00 am, return to Cooma may be around 7pm
