This will be a circuit walk along ridge tops in the Kybeyan State Conservation Area, including a 1.5km stretch along the Kybeyan River.
After a 30min drive from Cooma, we will climb 200m up Mt Pleasant (1050m), then continue along narrow rocky ridges, gradually descending to the Kybeyan River (750m). We’ll follow this upstream for 1.5km before ascending a different ridgeline, also narrow, to complete the circuit. If the weather is kind expect great views to the west including the Main Range.
Grade: 4. Although the walk is all off-track, it is through very open forest with sparse undergrowth which makes for easy walking. There are however a number of steep pinches to be negotiated.
Distance: Total distance will be about 12kms.
Meet: at Cooma North shops at 8.00am Sunday 16th June.
Maps: Kybeyan and Numeralla (1:25000)
Access road includes 10km gravel road/track with drainage humps not suitable for low clearance vehicles.
Cost will be car pooling costs only.
