Note that, again  due to leader availability, we are now moving the date to 3 weeks later.

The Geehi Bushwalking Club will be conducting a walk on Sunday 25th September from the Nalyappa homestead in Yaouk Valley, some 57 kms from Cooma via the Shannon’s Flat Road, to the summit of the northern peak of the Yaouk Bill Range. This 1725m peak is located in the Yaouk Nature Reserve and is shown on older maps as Yaouk Peak with its southern neighbour shown as Yaouk Bill. Later maps show the northern peak as Yaouk Bill.

The first 4 km of the walk will be on a track then another kilometre to the summit will be on granite slab and boulder country. The total ascent will be 600m so the walk is classified as medium. The views across the district and into the ACT will be stunning with snow drifts likely to the south. There is a second peak 3 km south of the main feature which will be an option should time and energy permit.
