Our meeting and departure point will be at the Vulcan Street Playground.

From there we will plot a course for Ayers Rock and try to follow the original track among the myriad of other trails through the area.

After Ayers Rock we will make our way to Mt. Gladstone crossing the highway near Cooma Steel and walking up parallel to the highway on the cycle track, then taking the 4×4 track that borders the reserve up to the lookout.

This walk is mostly on trails with steep sections and some rocky terrain. We will also have to cross the highway and walk some of the way along a cycle track.

GRADE: 3, This walk is graded medium.

DISTANCE Approx. 11 km return, estimate 4 hours.

RISKS: Cool to cold Weather, some of the path may be slippery after frost. Traffic when crossing the highway. Possibility of MTB riders on track.

WHAT TO BRING: All the usual day walking gear such as stout walking shoes or boots, long trousers and shirt, sunscreen, hat, water resistant jacket, lunch and snacks, water and medications

MEETING POINT:  We will meet at Vulcan Street Playground at 9 am.

COST: Nil, although past club members are encouraged to renew their subscription, which can be done on the day.

A car shuffle is possible for walkers that don’t want to walk the return trip.

COVID – 19 PROTOCOLS

In regards to our responsibilities in stopping the spread of COVID-19, the following protocols will be in place:

  • All participants are asked to adhere to social distancing measures
  • Maximum group size of 30 participants, so it is important to contact walk leader prior to the day of the activity
  • Please do not attend if you feel unwell or have been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19
  • Please bring your own pen for signing onto our Walk Register
  • Also bring your own Hand Sanitiser
  • Car pooling allowed, masks recommended
