DISTANCE: 9 Kilometres (Approximately)
GRADE: Grade 4 (Medium – Hard) This Walk has some off track sections and rougher terrain.
MAP: Tinderry 1:25,000 8726-1S.
RISKS: No mobile phone coverage, scrambling over fallen timber and boulders.
Driving: driving on gravel roads,
Walking: injury from tripping and falling, snake bite, dehydration,
GEAR:
Clothing: warm clothing, rain gear, good walking shoes,
Personal protection: Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent.
FOOD: Morning Tea, Lunch, water, extra snacks
WALK DESCRIPTION:
Drive should take approx. 1 hour. The walk starting point is approximately 14km east of Michelago.
From the cars we walk approx 1.6km along the Round Flat Fire Trail.
Then we head westerly up the ridge aiming for the rock feature known as the “Onion”. Climbing is up through light scrub with occasional large boulders for 2km.
If time permits we can then head north to the Tinderry Peak.
Return will be via the same route.
